Andy Chandler

At the start of 2008 Andy Chandler, a bartender with a psychology degree, made the decision that was becoming inevitable...to quit his job and make music his life.

Born in Stockport, and inspired by Manchesters flourishing indie scene, classically trained Andy began writing songs when he was just eleven years old. His childhood heroes were Ray Charles, Tom Waits and Otis Redding but by 2008 it was the guitar sounds of Radiohead, Elbow and Kings of Leon that were inspiring his writing.

With this in mind Andy started to seek out guitar playing collaborators who could help him find and develop his sound. Whilst working on his new material and paying the bills with piano bar gigs Andy was invited to tour with award-winning soul singer Nate James. If he had ever doubted his decision to concentrate on music those doubts were now long gone.

With the tour over Andy began working even harder on his writing and also landed himself some gigs on the London acoustic scene, playing The Great Indoors, Curious Generation and The Bedford.

The day after his gig at The Bedford Andy wrote and recorded a new song called Playboy Money inspired by the WAG phenomenon and its relentless press coverage. A few days later this song found its way to ITV producer Gavin Blyth who heard it, liked it and asked Andy if he could put it in his new film! Coronation Street's Out Of Africa. Without delay Andy got into the studio and recorded what was to be his first ever single.
